The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was founded in 1863.It works throughout the world to assist people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence and to raise awareness of the laws that protect victims of war.
The International Committee of the Red Cross is based in Geneva, Switzerland. It employs approximately 16,000 people in more than 80 countries. It is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The International Committee of the Red Cross is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC also endeavours to prevent human suffering by promoting and strengthening Humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
Structure
The governing bodies of the International Committee of the Red Cross are the Assembly, the Assembly Council (a subsidiary body to which the Assembly delegates some of its powers) and the Directorate (the ICRC's executive body). Peter Maurer, who has been president of the ICRC since July 1, 2012, presides over the Assembly and the Assembly Council. He is assisted by Vice-President Mrs. Christine Beerli.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is a humanitarian non-profit organization that coordinates and directs international aid to victims of natural disasters, catastrophes and other emergencies. The International Federation supports 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world. It ensures the development of National Societies in such areas as emergency response, health care, and the promotion of humanitarian values. The International Federation assists in programs to reduce risk of diseases such as COVID-19, HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria. Another important area of the Federation's work is multidisciplinary assistance to migrants.

National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies operate in 192 countries. This network is the backbone of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Each National Society is made up of volunteers and staff members who provide assistance to disaster victims, disabled and lonely elderly people, and war victims.
National Societies act as auxiliaries to the state authorities of their countries in the humanitarian sphere. In times of war, National Societies assist affected civilians and army medical units.
The Russian Red Cross, founded in 1867, is the National Society on the territory of the Russian Federation.
